BIOGRAPHY
Dee Lashawn Lockett is a leadership educator, author, consultant, and coach whose work sits at the intersection of leadership, communication, marketing, and organizational growth.
For more than 30 years, Dee has worked across business, corporate, nonprofit, ministry, publishing, and community environments—helping people and organizations recognize what is getting in the way of their growth and identify practical ways forward. Her career has taken her from entrepreneurship and corporate environments to nonprofit leadership, ministry, marketing, training, consulting, publishing, and business education. While the settings have changed, the thread running through her work has remained remarkably consistent: helping people gain clarity, recognize patterns, solve problems, and move from ideas to intentional action.
Today, Dee brings that experience together through her work as a leadership educator and through the development of the CLARITY Framework, an emerging body of work designed to help leaders think more clearly about how they lead, communicate, make decisions, reach people, and grow.
She is also the founder of The MARKED Academy, an education-focused platform created to equip leaders, entrepreneurs, ministries, and organizations with practical knowledge they can apply to their work and communities.
Writing and publishing have also been a significant part of Dee’s professional work for more than two decades. She has ghostwritten more than 50 books and helped bring more than 200 client books to publication. Her work behind the scenes has included helping authors transform ideas, expertise, experiences, and messages into developed manuscripts and guiding projects through the publishing process. She continues to write and publish today, both for other authors and through the development of her own books and educational resources.
Dee is the author of Marketing From the Inside Out, which explores marketing through a leadership and personal-development lens, challenging readers to consider the thinking, values, communication, and decisions behind what they present to the world. Her approach reflects a conviction that sustainable growth is rarely achieved by tactics alone.
A gifted teacher and facilitator, Dee has delivered workshops and educational programs for organizations and initiatives connected with the City of Detroit, Fifth Third Bank, Luminary NYC, Operation HOPE, Great Lakes Women’s Business Council, Michigan Women Forward, TechTown Detroit, and others. Her work has allowed her to teach and mentor entrepreneurs, organizational leaders, and community changemakers at different stages of growth.
Dee’s educational and professional development includes studies in accounting at Wayne State University, project management training through the University of Adelaide, women’s entrepreneurship education through Cornell University, and entrepreneurial development through Joseph Business School. She is also a graduate of the School of Ministry through the Bible Training Center at Living Word Christian Center in Forest Park, Illinois, and a graduate of the Great Lakes Women’s Business Council Trusted Connector program.
Whether she is teaching, writing, speaking, coaching, or developing new intellectual property, Dee’s goal is the same: to help people see more clearly, lead more intentionally, and turn what they know into meaningful action.
For Dee, leadership is ultimately about more than achievement. It is about using what you have learned, built, and experienced to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
